7. It is because the "lag of seasons" it's because after a long winter the Earth heats up a bit late because the Sun has to heat up the Oceans and melt the snow.

The reason it's colder later in the Winter is because the cold air takes longer to get to the Earth because a lot of heat escapes Earth at night and in mid-to-late winter is when the most heat escapes Earth .

Bonus. July is the hottest month of the year because the earth is more tilted towards the sun and the next hottest month is is august for the same reason.
January is the coldest month because we tilt more away from the sun and Febuary is the second coldest month for the same reason
